In addition to providing our students with the skills they need to succeed in the trades, we are also deeply committed to helping them obtain jobs upon graduation. Virginia Technical Academy’s faculty maintains close relationships with area employers who hire trade workers so that we can help bridge the need for skilled workers and our students’ desire to gain employment.
The high demand for trade workers remains one of the most appealing advantages of working in the trades. This benefit was reaffirmed by the success of our first job fair for trade workers, held on November 18th at Virginia Technical Academy.
Results From Job Fair for Trade Workers
Twenty-nine students attended the job fair, each eager to secure a position in their respective career track. Thirteen companies participated in the career event to fill positions in HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and facilities maintenance. The job fair resulted in 80 – 90% successful job placement.
We want to offer warm congratulations to the students who were hired and a sincere appreciation to the organizations who came to our job fair. We count the event as a great success!
